A 12-week spoken Mandarin program for Chinese heritage children, ages 7–9
The Teacher
Ann (安⽼师) — university physics lecturer for 40 years, plus 15 years tutoring
middle and high school students in China.
Four decades of university teaching is four decades of one skill:
explaining unfamiliar ideas to people who don't yet have the words for them.
That is exactly what this program needs.
Ann does not speak English, and that is by design.
Children switch to English the moment they know the teacher understands it.
In her classroom, Chinese isn't the language they're supposed to
use — it's the only one that works.
The Problem We Solve
The child understands Chinese and answers in English every time.
Traditional Chinese school doesn't fix this: character drilling builds recognition, not speech.
The Method
Elementary math becomes the vehicle for speaking. Counting, money, change, time,
weight, sharing things out — real situations where the child has to say something
to get something done.
The math is set one to two grades below the child's actual level. This is essential.
Hard math pulls attention away from language and the child reverts to English to solve it.
Easy math frees everything for speaking.
What Makes It Different
We teach what Chinese-Canadian children get wrong and no one corrects:
Chinese groups digits in fours, English in threes — 10,000 is ⼀万, not translated "ten thousand"
打⼋折 means you pay 80% — the reverse of "80% off"
Chinese fractions are stated backwards: 三分之⼆ is 2/3
⽄ (500g) — a unit they'll need and have never met here

12 sessions · once weekly · 60 minutes · 3 months
5–6 students per class (minimum 4 to run)
Taught live by video; an on-site assistant present every session (provided by us)
All materials supplied by the institution — students bring nothing (one-time cost approx.

Session 12 is a parent showcase — children perform a full shopping,

We are an Art Center, offering high quality daily artistic programs for children aged 18 month to 3 years old, staffed by educators who are passionate and dedicated to enriching young lives.

DESCRIPTION
This class is a fun-filled class for kids as young as 18 months to 3 years old and their parents to create together.
Parents/caregivers will explore art together in a playful, sensory-rich environment.
Each class focuses on process-based art, early motor skill development, and bonding time.

PICK-UP PROCESS:
Trained staff will pick up children from school and escort them to our designated activity space. A structured sign-out procedure will ensure a smooth and secure transition.

Flexibility: Parents can choose from single-session drop-ins or ongoing participation based on their child’s interests and schedule.

We will explore a variety of mediums each week and make special programs adjusted to seasons, various themes and studying great artists. Each participant will be guided from their skill set and will learn various techniques in painting including outlining, shading, and perspective. We will also explore crafts, sculpture, mixed media, seasonal décor, drawing, and journaling. Students at IAA art Centre are encouraged to develop their own ideas and imagination. Give your child a great experience in our studio!
BEFORE & AFTER School Five Days a Week: including drop off and pick up. Full time before and after includes PRO D DAYS for the year. The rest is $100 per day

In these courses students learn how to prepare a powerful portfolio to gain both admissions to their schools of choice around the globe along with earning scholarships to help fund their artistic dreams.
